Alex Prezzano is an established guitarist, songwriter and music educator based in New York City.

A native of Methuen, Massachusetts, Alex has been passionate about music for as long as he can remember. Home videos of Alex as a child show him grooving to the radio and joyfully playing a toy guitar, an instrument he officially began playing at the age of 12.

After growing up on Rock, Blues and Jazz music, Classical and Spanish guitar music became embedded into Alex’s musical identity. He connected with his guitar professor at the University of Southern Maine, the late Keith Crooke, who taught Alex to view the guitar as an instrument that would allow him to achieve greater spiritual satisfaction and understanding. Alex still applies this same theory into not only classical music, but to punk rock, blues, jazz, musical theatre, country, or any piece of music that he plays.

Alex worked as the music director and performing guitarist in multiple national tours and regional theater productions of the Broadway show, A Night with Janis Joplin, where he worked with Tony-Award nominee Mary Bridget Davies. In 2017, Prezzano joined as guitarist and touring Music Director for the Broadway production A Night with Janis Joplin, starring Mary Bridget Davies. Prezzano worked on several tours and regional productions of the show through 2019 (in which he played the Guitar 1 and 2 roles, touring music director, band contractor and more). In 2018, Prezzano took part alongside Davies in the live filming of ANWJJ for streaming service BroadwayHD. The live film also saw success in movie theaters throughout North America and Japan. Most notably, these years of performing alongside Mary Bridget Davies culminated in a long lasting working relationship with the Tony-nominee, and Prezzano has gone on to perform countless concerts with Davies. In 2022, Prezzano served as guitarist for the developmental readings and recordings of Virginia Woolf’s A Room Of One’s Own starring Davies. At Joe’s Pub and 54 Below in NYC. In June of 2023, Prezzano served as Davies guitarist again in her recording session at the famous PowerStation studios in NYC, for her live album recording Freedom Of My Mind

Alex has released five studio singles, his most recent being “Beauty” a collaboration with singer Amanda D’Archangelis which debuted in September 2022. He has been actively involved in the New York music scene for more than a decade and has performed in dozens of professional theater productions at venues throughout the United States, including Goodspeed Opera House, Princeton’s McCarter Theater, La Mirada in Los Angeles, and many more.

Additionally, Alex co-composed and recorded a promotional song for the shaving company Harry's, which charted at 36 on Spotify's Global Viral Top 50 list in 2017; recorded guitar for the show and concept album, Oscar at the Crown in Spring 2019, performed in Off-Broadway musical productions of Titanique and Oscar at the Crown, and played with the urban pop duo Domino Saints.

In addition to scheduled live performances, Prezzano and his band perform regularly throughout New York and New England, including at iconic venues like The Bitter End, Stephen Talkhouse, Mercury Lounge, Arlene’s Grocery, 54 Below, Joe’s Pub, and Cafe Wha?.

“The thing I love most about being a musician is creating, and performance is a form of creation. For me, there is a natural high that comes with it because it’s not just about playing music. It’s about connecting with people. And if you’re performing music, chances are you are fully present with it. As we know, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to remain present in our daily lives, so music allows me to enter a mental space where I feel most like myself, by unlocking thoughts, memories, epiphanies and lessons that I am unable to find anywhere else.”
